Pamela became a part of the Strides family in January 2025 when she participated in the HorseWork Dual-Credit Equine Assisted Learning Facilitator training and certification course with an interest in becoming a certified instructor.
Pamela has loved all animals since she was a little girl but had a special affinity for equines! Any time she could catch a ride on somebody’s horse… she was there! Pamela was born and raised in Indianapolis and graduated from Pike High School. She attended William Woods College located in Fulton, Missouri and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. She also spent all four years participating in the Equine Studies program offered there!
After graduation, Pamela worked in St. Louis as a fourth grade teacher before transitioning into many years working in the non-profit sector with the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society and National Multiple Sclerosis Society with a focus on fund-raising/development and client-based programs. She returned to teaching in the classroom in 2000 back at home in Indianapolis.
Pamela has been an elementary school teacher in Pike Township for over 25 years working with 2nd, 4th and 5th graders. While teaching in Pike, Pamela earned her Master’s Degree in Education and also her Building Administrator Licensure (both from Indiana Wesleyan University). It was during this time that she realized the stress and pressure students were often under as well as experiencing the stress her fellow educators dealt with. With her desire to support children and teachers, and her love for all things related to equines, Strides to Success was the perfect fit! So, in preparation for retiring in May 2025, Pamela began her dual credentials program with Strides.
She is a proud mother of one son and a very proud grandmother of three ( two boys, one girl). She has two dogs, one cat and her adopted Standardbred gelding. Now in addition to completing her dual-credential program, Pamela is also able to contribute to the organization as the Director of Development using the skills she learned while working with non-profits. She is very excited to find ways to connect people with the beauty and healing power of horses.
